Christine Abood was born and raised in Manville, where she attended our local schools and church. She was brought up in a hardworking, blue-collar family, where she learned perseverance from an early age. Her paternal grandparents worked at Johns-Manville, and her father, Aaron "Ernie" Abood, owned a local auto body shop in town for many years.

Christine is a Registered Nurse and first-generation honors graduate of Raritan Valley Community College. During nursing school, she served as President of the Student Nurses' Association, leading community service projects and partnerships that benefited local families and organizations, including the Manville Public Library.

A mother of four, new grandmother, and longtime volunteer, Christine has spent more than 20 years involved in animal rescue and advocacy. She is passionate about protecting those who cannot speak for themselves and believes that compassion builds stronger communities. From her professional career, she possesses the skills to build strong professional relationships through effective communication and conflict resolution.

Outside of her nursing career and volunteer work, Christine enjoys exploring local parks and trails with her family, taking her children to the movies, dining at local eateries, and visiting historical sites. She believes in preserving history and open spaces that make New Jersey unique and that growth should never come at the expense of the community's character.

Christine is running for Borough Council because she believes every resident deserves to know what is happening in their community and how to be part of it. There was a time when she wanted to get involved but wasn't sure how to make her voice heard. That experience inspired her to advocate for greater transparency, better communication, and more opportunities for residents to participate in local government.

Christine doesn't stay quiet when she sees something that isn't right. She wants to ensure residents are informed and have meaningful opportunities to connect with their decision-makers before important decisions are made -- not after.
